Plantar Fasciitis

What is it?

Plantar Fasciitis is heel pain that can develop over a number of weeks or months. You might feel pain in around the heel from standing or walking for a long time. Some people also feel a sharp pain in their heel when getting out of bed in the morning or after rest.

 

Some things that may lead to Plantar Fasciitis are:

  • Being overweight
  • Reduced flexibility
  • Already having a condition called a ‘heel spur’
  • Repeated foot pronation (feet turning in) when walking

Treatment can include:

  • Stretching and strengthening exercises
  • Massage
  • Dry needling

Fat pad bruising

What is it?

Fat pad bruising is a bruise underneath the heel. Walking or putting direct pressure on your heel can be painful.

 

Some things that may lead to fat pad bruising are:

  • An injury from landing hard on your heels
  • Wearing shoes with poor heel cushioning
